"i knew this would happen!" this week flew by! so it is sunday night at 10:19 and i totally forgot about my quest to do my friday weekly news roundup. SO much has been happening in the world and nothing too much with me. this week brought the presidential debate, and new show premiers. (oh so important!) nonetheless my quest for the weekly news roundup will have to be excused for the week. but nexts week will be awesome. hopefully i will conquer the 'ant' problem, and get at least one good night of sleep!

on saturday we met my parents in logan for a utah state football game. it was a blast! growing up my dad bought season tickets, and we went during rain, snow, wind. we sat at the same seats year after year up to now. i have memories of going into the bathroom and putting my hands in front of the hand dryer in the ladies room to get warm. it was now my time to take my baby girl, i must say it was so very stressful, because it got windy and cold and rainy, then it would be hot. she was a good little fan, and even clapped when everyone was cheering during a touchdown. i feel very happy. i have been thinking about bryan and i and our family. these days are so carefree. i am very lucky to be a mother, and i do know that the time i have with baby girl is so limited. before i know it, she will be in school, and grown up. i have been thinking this week of how i hear mothers complain about being home. this upsets me. i know that i am not a career woman right now, but i am a happy mother. only because i choose to be. i know my time home will be over before i know it. i do not want to cut myself short of this time. maybe i did not save the interior design world this week, and i am not in utah style and design for my interior design achievements, or i am not on the today show, and i am not going to india to pick out fabric. what i have done all week is be a mom to my amazing daughter. i know things get mundane and it is up to ourselves to change things up, and make our homes interesting, not only for our family but for ourselves. while i am at home, i will not take this for granted. this morning i made cinnamon rolls from scratch. something i have never done, and they look amazing. i have never made dough before, or anything like this but it feels good to be my kind of industrious. i have a happy, grateful heart today.

friday news roundup.

this week brought on a new morning routine that i do quite enjoy. wake up at 6:30 or 7:00, feed the baby girl a sippie of the formula's, then i turn on the morning news to the today show, and cnn, and switch back and forth until, about 7:30, or until i am too a good point, then i turn it off, and switch on the soothing voices of kuer fm90.1 nprs affilate in salt lake city. there is a satellite to where i live. which makes me VERY happy. however when it storms, i cannot get the signal and it makes me quite unpleasant.



the news of the week that caught my attention the most, the wall street shakeup. cannot get enough of this news.

this week started off slow, and ended with a bang. today i met my brieanne and her cute kids for lunch, we talked and caught up on news. then manda and erin and mr. fox came up for a visit. we had fun catching up, walked to the gas station where powerball tickets and sodas were bought. we all decided it is the best place where i live. for many reasons but their crushed ice is a major factor. bella and fox played like old friends. bella loved him. she was finally the bigger baby, and showed him how to drink out of a sippy, and how to play in the exersaucer, that she is too cool for on most days. it was a fun day, to end my really uneventful week. however i am VERY excited about my screenprinted towels. when they get done, i will post them!

i am a pumpkin lover. i love the smell of pumpkins the look of pumpkins. i love pumpkin drop cookies, pumpkin spice cake, pumpkin pie, pumpkin seeds, the many colors, the many shapes and sizes, what one can do with a pumpkin. the list goes on and on. i have never met a pumpkin i didn't like. (unless it was a rotten one.)

the friday news round up! i decided i am going to do a friday news roundup. diane ream does it every week on npr. i think it is a good idea for me because the week goes by and sometimes i feel like all that i did was a whole lot of nothing. when i am productive. i do not watch television all day. i just simply cannot remember. this will be good for me!

this week we went to a science lab cookout. we had fresh salmon caught from canada. it was outstanding as it sounds. and i wanted more...but there had to be enough for all 'us' scientists. (bella and i were the odd ones out.) i got my halloween decor out! made some killer fried chicken. bryan is doing research, homework, research. i had an odd nuclear hormonal meltdown that can be compared to the size of the mount saint helens eruption in 1980. the clastic eruptions are the worse. the kind where things build up and up, then it blows. that was me. i feel alot better! in the middle of the night, i woke up to bryan rolling over and mistakingly punching me in the eye. apparantly i used an explicit, told him to quit horsin' around, and go to bed. this story still makes me smile. i really am going to end up just like weezer on steal magnolis. i also have been feeling a bit under the weather, with a scratchy throat. but like always diet coke is there so sooth my throat, and helps me relax and enjoy myself. i love diet coke, the good old fountain kind. :) b-dog made dinner, cleaned up, swept and scoured the sink. that made me real happy! he is an outstanding husband! i also have a new love, the gilmore girls. they come on at 3:00 and i love to fold laundry...and watch the show. i worked on cleaning, drawing, screenprinting, journal writing, and some reading.

happy fall! it was cold today. the windows were open upstairs and it got quite frosty so i had to make some hot cocoa to get warm. it is officially sweater weather, and i am very pleased my fall decor finally fits the season.

a chair sketched by me. last night i found a notebook that was brand new. (like they all are) in it was random chairs drawn throughout. i do that...i buy a notebook for usually some sort of organization and then i will open them months later and will find sketches throughout the entire book, as well as our family names written in different letter styles. i sketch on anything when i have a pen and paper, or church programs, paper, notebooks. i guess i am just the sketchy type. today i got all of my hallowe'en stuff out. i don't know why i have to feel like i am doing something shady. but i love the fall. along with the fall comes hallowe'en, so it is the 9th of september and all so i thought it would be the natural thing to do....i just wish they had little minature pumpkins here. the real live, little modern classy ones. i want them. i want to adorn my little house with them. however there is none here. none at all. :( on a higher note, i am working on some screenprinting floursack towells, i think i will sell them for $5 and also do a give away, let me know if you want in! i will post them when finished.

i have a new thing. nightlights. all of our cheap value pack nightlights have burnt out. i would love to buy a nightlight lamp for the kitchen to save energy. i love these two, but i am still on the lookout. sadly the owl is out of my price range, but he needs to be admired.

and then...home. tonight i have been thinking about entry ways. and exit ways. what is the first thing that we see when we walk into our home after we have had a day. what are the last things we see as we bid adieu? (i always see my television, the side of it. which REALLY, really, really, bothers me. (believe me i LOVE space planning. i have arranged our furniture many times, due to the small space, the outlets, as of tonight it is the only place that works.) then i thought about home...and my home. which is a townhouse, designed and furnished on a meager student budget.
then i wondered what bryan thinks, and if coming home too him feels so so good as it does too me. i wonder if he enjoys or appreciates that i do my best to make things hip and happenin' and clean. and that there is always toilet paper, and fruit punch to drink, and that the fridge is full. when i worked i would leave early, and i loved the early early morning. to be out and hear the birds, see the orchard. listen to npr on the way to work and see the sunrise over the beautiful salt lake mountains. then as i would come home, i would immediatly change my clothes, wash my face. and get some laundry going. (a sound and smell i love.) and i would feel so refreshed and full of gladness to be home. a place for relaxation.

now that i am the mothership, home has a many more functions, besides relaxation and peace. it is my workplace, my design studio, my restaurant, the lab for my mothershipping adventures. i usually do not leave for long periods so the need to come home and change out of my work clothes does no longer happen. my routines are totally different. i love the start of a new morning, when i straighten up, get the laundry going, turn on npr, open the windows, let the
sunlight and the nice breeze blow in. i love to be home. and i still feel full of gladness to be home.
then i wondered what baby girl thinks. this home is her workplace, her design studio, her eating establishment, a lab for her learning adventures. her own relaxation studio. what do i want her to think about when she leaves to go to school, or come home from playing. what does she think now? the home is so important for many reasons. then i thought about how i believe this is an important subject. then i got worried for one second if i should post this because this may not make any sense to anyone but me.....then i found this quote to justify my feelings....

for a whopping steal of 75 cents i bought this stem of sunflowers this weekend at the farmers market. for only 75 cents whenever i go into the kitchen i feel favored by fortune to see these pretty fall flowers smiling at me. they are a happy flower. although when byran reads this post he will probably think for 75 cents i started sneezing uncontrollably on the way home. a well-known sunflower characteristic is that the flowering heads track the sun's movement, called heliotropism. i think they are a marvelous flower. i want to be of steadfast resolve like the sunflower.

i am thinking about the color green today, and how i like it.
i am also wishing i had something i could can. i am not wishing my life away, but i cannot wait until i can have my own garden.


i am also thinking about how i can make baby girls bedroom more interesting for her.



so when we were down for labor day. we went to the mall with my parents. my dad wanted to buy bella her birthday dress. we went into gymboree and bella saw this hat, grabbed it and put it on. so my dad bought it along with 3 pairs of shoesies, and a dress, (photos to come soon.) well bella would not let go of the hat. she wore it throughout the entire mall. stretched her neck high and proud and smiled the entire time. if she new how to wave a little better i am sure she would have waved to the crowds of shoppers. i am a firm believer that sometimes you need to buy something, wether it be a new shirt, new hairdo, or shoes, to make you feel like you still got it. she will not take it off. if she does, she tries to figure out how to put it back on. she wears it playing, crawling around. this hat for sure makes bella feel like she still has it.....whatever 'it' is for a 12 month old.

i want to be here on 10/25/2008 i don't have any idea who these people are but i would be smiling too to be there.
they sure look happy. and that they are having so much fun.
so i am working on some halloween projects and in my country living magazine last fall they had an article about the pumpkin festival in keene N.H. and i want to go. real bad. really really bad.
my anniversary is the 30th of october. so maybe when we are done with school, we will go to this. no, we HAVE to go to this festival.
some very cool mugs from http://www.fishseddy.com/ i think things are so exciting right now in our country. bryan and i pulled out this project i did in 8th great. i got an A on it, it was a project that took the entire semester. it was about the constitution. our job was to give the articles of the constitution, and so forth, then we found pictures that went along with each article, etc. then we would explain in our own words what it meant to us...here was my first explanation of the preamble.

here is the preamble:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

my explanation:

what the preamble means to me is that the people of the united states, in order to form a more perfect union, ....then i just rewrote the preamble. pretty profound for and 8th grader don't you think! ;) bryan and i had a good laugh. however my collages, were outstanding.....

this labor day weekend was a nice end to summer, with some nice rain storms! we had baby girls birthday party on saturday. we had a menu of navajo tacos, and pumpkin squares, (freaking awesome pumpkin squares...) and chocolate cake. and it was all very tasty! bella was very very spoiled this weekend!
